Medicinal mushrooms. Vitamin K2. Probiotics. For 19 years, the NutrAward has recognized innovation, science and market potential of the best and brightest new nutritional ingredients on the market. Giant ingredient suppliers like DSM and BASF have won accolades, as has four-time winner, Maypro.

Seven years ago, finished products got in on the act when the NutrAward expanded to also include best new products featuring a functional ingredient.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the 19th annual NutrAward is Dec. 31.

To be eligible for this year’s NutrAward, ingredients or finished products must have been launched after Jan. 1, 2015.

A juried panel assesses each entry, and Natural Products Expo West attendees also get to weigh in with an online vote.

The winner will be announced in a special ceremony at Expo West in Anaheim in March 2017.

The NutrAward criteria for best new ingredient includes:

  • Scientific merit

  • Efficacy

  • Safety
