Kraft launches sustainable coffee in mainstream stores

Kraft Foods, the largest food company in North America, is bringing sustainability to the masses. Using its size and market reach, Kraft is buying large quantities of Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee beans and incorporating them into its Yuban brand, which is widely available at conventional supermarkets. Yuban packaging now displays the Rainforest Alliance seal and guarantees a minimum of 30 percent sustainable content across the brand.

"We are thrilled that such a well-known brand has demonstrated this level of commitment to sustainability," said Sabrina Vigilante, senior director of marketing and business development at RA. So far, Kraft's move has helped conserve 23,000 acres of rainforest habitat and benefited approximately 46,000 people in Latin America, according to RA.
