Natrol acquired by Indian manufacturer

Natrol Inc., the Chatsworth, Calif., manufacturer of dietary supplements, agreed to be acquired by Mumbai-based Plethico Pharmaceutical Ltd. for approximately $81 million, through the purchase of all outstanding shares of Natrol stock. The deal is expected to close during the first quarter of 2008. Wayne M. Bos, president and CEO of Natrol, said he was pleased with the transaction. "We have gained a solid reputation in our market niches and believe the merger with Plethico will also be a win-win for our customers and employees." Plethico manufactures herbal and neutraceutical products, such as Travisil, Mountain Herbz and Coach's Formula. It also makes pharmaceutical products. No information was released regarding Bos' or employees' future role with the company.
