Natural product company news of the week

A roundup of announcements from natural product companies this week, including new celebrity investments for RUNA and several Non-GMO Project verifications.

Smart Flour Foods achieved Non-GMO Project verfication for its gluten-free pizza crusts made with a blend of sorghum, amaranth and teff.

Whole food supplement brand Garden of Life, which makes USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project verified products, received eight ADDY Awards from the American Advertising Federation.

NOW Foods' 250mg and 500mg Setria Glutathione vegetarian capsules have a new look. The new labels better identify Setria Glutathione as the main ingredient in the antioxidant dietary supplements. Combined with milk thistle extract and Alpha Lipoic Acid, Setria provides potent antioxidant protection at the cellular level.

Beverage company RUNA announced investment agreements with American tennis stars John Isner and Steve Johnson.

Orgenetics Inc. announced that Orgen-C, which is 100 percent USDA Certified Organic citamin C from organic amla fruit extract, is now GRAS Self-Affirmed. Orgen-C is standardized to 50 percent natural vitamin C, with the remaining 50 percent being the same amla fruit extract that contain important cofactors and conutrients such as non-citrus bioflavonoids and polyphenols.

The Roasted and Light Roasted Tahini pastes from Sesame King Tahini have received Non-GMO Project verification.

Ahiflower oil from Natures Crops International has been certified under the NSF Non-GMO True North protocol. Natures Crops International has also been certified as a Non-GMO “Handler (Processor True North)”under NSF Protocol 454.

Functional ingredients leader AIDP signed a sales and marketing agreement with biopharmaceutical products manufacturer Plandaí Biotechnology Inc. to market and distribute Phytofare Catechin Complex to the functional foods and nutraceutical industries. Plandaí Biotechnology’s Catechin Complex is a green tea-derived extract containing all eight major catechins.
