Natural Products Association East announces expansion plans

The Natural Products Association's east region is planning growth initiatives as the NPA Southeast region departs from the national advocacy organization.

The East region of the NPA (Natural Products Association) is announcing several new programs and opportunities for its retail and manufacturing constituents in light of the decision of the organization’s Southeast region to voluntarily vacate its charter from the national organization.

“While we wish the former southeast region well with their decision to go it alone, we feel that this creates a vacuum of representation regarding many of the retail and supply members based in and doing business in that region,” says Adam Goodman, president of NPA East. “Our membership is best served working with the 81-year-old organization that helped create and maintain the industry that exists today. Their strong record of advocating on behalf of the industry on Capitol Hill, and the FDA is unmatched. We have worked with Dan (Fabricant), Mark (LeDoux) and the entire national team on many state, and regional lobbying projects, and look forward to working even more closely in the future,” notes Goodman. “The future of our valued members isn’t in going it alone.”

Considering these changes, NPA East has decided to further expand its reach, and embrace the retail and supply members of all the states along the East Coast. States Paul Kushner, NPA East executive director, “NPA East is open for business, and eager to serve the advocacy, and legislative needs of the entire east coast membership. With our strong relationship with New Hope (Informa), we will also be able to bring many new initiatives regarding Expo East to those members.”

Dan Fabricant, NPA CEO states, “We’re excited at the opportunity to expand the good advocacy work already in place with NPA East by coordinating coverage of the entire East Coast. Our focus with NPA East has always been on being effective advocates for the industry, first and foremost, which is evident by our collaborative work in New York and Massachusetts in the past year alone. That is what a trade association, national or regional, should be focused on, and we look forward to bringing that same focus and collaborative effort to all the states on the East Coast with NPA East.”
