New CRN president takes over

The Council for Responsible Nutrition, a trade association for the dietary supplements industry, has named Steven Mister as its new president and chief executive officer. He fills the vacancy that will be left by outgoing CRN President Annette Dickinson, who retires this month. Mister joins CRN from his position as director of government affairs at the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations.

?[Dickinson] is leaving the association on solid ground—with a solid membership base, an expert staff and a highly regarded reputation,? Chuck Brice, CRN chairman and senior vice president for Kemin, said in a release. ?I know she joins us in the belief that Steve is the right person to take the reins for CRN?s future.?

Dickinson has been with CRN for 31 years and has served as president since 2003. She will continue to work with the organization as a consultant and plans to work with the University of Minnesota?s new Center for Dietary Supplement Safety. CRN also named Andrew Shao, Ph.D., vice president, scientific and regulatory affairs. Shao was formerly a senior scientist at General Nutrition Corp., where he reviewed new products and ingredients.
