Elwood Richard, founder of NOW Health Group of Bloomingdale, Ill., received the Natural Legacy award at Natural Products Expo West. The Natural Foods Merchandiser honored Richard for being a natural products industry pioneer who has worked in many facets of the business, from health food store owner to supplement manufacturer, for nearly 60 years. NFM profiled him as a Natural Legacy in the March 2006 issue.

Howard B. Schiffer, president of the nonprofit Vitamin Angel Alliance, received Vivekanand Ashram's Global Humanitarian Award for contributing vitamin A supplements to children in India to prevent blindness.

Jim Schorzmann was appointed vice president of sales for the Midwest region of distributor Tree of Life.

Portland, Ore.-based Emerita, a manufacturer of women's health products, promoted Mary Banack from director of operations to general manager. Lisa Dolezal, previously Emerita's director of sales and marketing, was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing.

Santa Cruz, Calif.-based California Certified Organic Farmers has a new slate of board members and officers.
