This week: Nutiva launches organic liquid coconut oils | Jarrow makes protein powder from pumpkin seed

Clover Sonoma, a third-generation family-owned and operated dairy, announced via press release its new organic whole milk Greek yogurts and reformulated organic Cream on Top yogurts in delicious flavors and fruit blends. New Organic Whole Milk Greek Yogurt is strained in small batches and blended with juicy sun-ripened organic fruit for a thick, creamy texture. The 5.3 ounce yogurts are available in five flavors including plain, vanilla bean, blueberry, raspberry and honey. The Organic Cream on Top Yogurt starts with a base of field-ripened organic fruit topped with thick yogurt and finished with a decadent layer of pure cream. The 6 ounce yogurts are available in six flavors including vanilla, forest berry, strawberry, blueberry, peach and now maple.

New from Jarrow Formulas is an Organic Pumpkin Seed Protein powder, which is gluten free, hypoallergenic, non-GMO and vegan. Jarrow Formulas Organic Pumpkin Seed Protein is processed to provide a smooth texture with a characteristic nutty flavor and provides 9 grams of protein per serving with no added sugar, artificial flavors or sweeteners.

Halo Top Creamery, maker of low-calorie, high-protein and low-sugar ice cream, announced seven new flavors: Pancakes & Waffles, Cinnamon Roll, Green Tea Mochi, Rainbow Swirl, Candy Bar, Chocolate Covered Banana and Caramel Macchiato. 

Plant-based organic food company Nutiva launched two new Organic Liquid Coconut Oils in Classic and Garlic. Nutiva Organic Liquid Coconut Oils are perfect replacements for traditional cooking oils like olive or canola, and ideal for sautéing, cooking and baking up to 350°F. These innovative USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified liquid oils are extracted from fresh organic coconuts and crafted through a patented organic process that gently removes the fats in virgin coconut oil that remain solid at room temperature. 

Horizon Organic has a new line of snacking products called Good & Go! Snacks available in three varieties: Cheddar & Pretzels, Colby & Apple Crisps, and Cheddar, Raisins, Cashews & Sweetened Cranberries. 

Dr. Josh Axe cofounded Ancient Nutrition with Garden of Life founder Jordan Rubin. Their newest products include Organic Bone Broth Protein, Organic Bone Broth Collagen and Organic Bone Broth Meal, all in a variety of flavors. Ancient Nutrition’s bone broth products are the ultimate low-carb, low-sugar superfood that supports consumers’ gut health, metabolism, muscles, joints and skin. These supplements are certified USDA Organic, non-GMO, paleo-friendly, gluten free, grain free, dairy free, soy free and nut free (except for Peanut Butter). Each offers 10 to 20 grams of protein per serving.

Serenity Kids is a new baby food company inspired by both the paleo diet and the macronutrient content of mother's milk. Its 4 oz. squeezable baby food pouches blend organic vegetables, healthy fats and clean meats into products that are high in fat and low in sugar. The first three flavors to be available are Grass-Fed Beef with Organic Kale and Sweet Potatoes; Free Range Chicken with Organic Peas and Carrots; and Uncured Bacon with Organic Kale and Butternut Squash. The minds behind Epic Provisions, BrainJuice and Paleo Mom, plus paleo figure Rob Wolff are advising the brand, which premieres on Amazon this month. 

Good to Go Hard-Boiled Eggs are the latest addition to Organic Valley's Good to Go snacking line. Organic Valley's free-range hard-boiled eggs provide a wholesome alternative to high-fat, high-carb convenience snacks. Each egg contains 6 grams of protein, beneficial omega-3 fatty acids and just 60 calories. Organic Valley also introduced a new flavor in its organic half & half line—Sweet Cream Half & Half—which will complement its plain, hazelnut and French vanilla flavors in dairy cases from coast to coast.

Organic flavor and ingredient manufacturer Blue Pacific Flavors opened a new R&D laboratory to handle product development and flavor creation for its global operations in the U.S. and Asia.

Carlson Labs has introduced Carlson Curcumin, produced with patented UltraSol technology to increase bioavailability. Each serving provides 100 mg of enhanced absorption curcuminoids, powerful phytonutrients that give turmeric its yellow hue and support a healthy, normal inflammatory response, promote joint and heart health and provide powerful antioxidant protection.

Australian natural foods company Freedom Foods Group has partnered with Kroger supermarkets nationwide to launch a new range of products using a unique, non-GMO Australian barley grain that promotes better gut nutrition. The Barley+ Toasted Muesli and Snack Bar range is the only product available in the U.S. featuring the superior Australian wholegrain, BARLEYmax, which has been studied for over three decades by the country's leading research organization, CSIRO. 

Sweettauk Lemonade has lowered the amount of sugar in its beverages to between 1 and 5 grams per bottle. Sweetauk uses a tiny bit of next-generation stevia that complements the fruit’s natural sweetness. Its cold-pressed lemonades are organic and Non-GMO Project verified.

Tara Lin Couch is the new senior director, dietary supplements and tobacco services, at EAS Consulting Group. Dr. Couch has been an independent consultant for EAS Consulting Group since 2012 and was invited to be the EAS independent adviser for dietary supplements in 2015.  

Comax Flavors has named Michael E. Crain as senior flavor chemist. He will lead both creative flavor labs in Comax's Melville headquarters and its new NJ Innovation Center expected in the fall of 2017. He joins Comax Flavors with 35 years of flavor experience with positions at IFF/Ottens Flavors and Fritzsche Dodge & Olcott (BASF)/Givaudan Flavors. 

iSnak Corporation (dba Yooli Foods) has launched a new line of cultured dairy products under the Yooli brand. iSnak's president, Cary Richardson, is driving Yooli Foods’ expansion, as a new player in the dairy segment focusing on farmer's cheese-based products. Farmer’s Cheese is a fresh, all natural soft cheese that is high in protein, gluten-free, 99 percent lactose free, low in sodium. Additionally,  Yooli's Farmer's Cheese is a good source of vitamin D.  

Biova LLC has joined the Council for Responsible Nutrition because it is "looking to participate in making the industry better, and supporting transparency overall," the company said in an announcement.

Aromatherapy company Natural Patches of Vermont debuted a new way to bring the comfort of essential oils into living spaces with its Aromatherapy Crumbles. Unlike most fragrance-based tarts (“melts”), Aromatherapy Crumbles use the same carefully crafted pure essential oil blends as the company’s skin patches. Crumbles contain no artificial colors, fragrances or synthetic waxes. Crumbles may be used in either electric or candle-powered potpourri or tart warmers, and are initially available in soothing lavender, bergamot and lemongrass scents.

Beanfields Snacks has promoted John Honeck from EVP of sales to CCO and has welcomed Jim Macuso as CFO and COO. This investment in this executive team is poised to accelerate Beanfields’ continued growth and charitable partnership with Homeboy Industries.

Algatech Ltd. received Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency approval for its all-natural astaxanthin AstaPure to be used as a food ingredient. This approval makes Algatech the first astaxanthin supplier to start marketing its clean-label astaxanthin under the AstaPure brand in Brazil.

Health and wellness company fairlife LLC disrupts the dairy category once again with the introduction of fairlife SuperKids ultra-filtered milk and fairlife SuperKids chocolate ultra-filtered milk. With 125 mg of DHA omega-3 per serving, 12 grams of protein, 35 percent of the daily value of calcium and no lactose, the new product is now rolling out nationwide.

SweeGen Inc., a provider of nature-based sweeteners, and Ingredion Inc., a leading global provider of ingredient solutions to diversified industries, announced a new addition to its line of stevia leaf sweeteners with the successful commercialization of BESTEVIA Reb D as another option for sugar reduction in foods and beverages. BESTEVIA Reb D provides additional flexibility for formulators looking to match the time intensity response curve of sucrose.

PLT Health Solutions, Inc. announced the appointment of Steve Meredith and Robert Holly, both to the position of senior national account executive. Both men bring decades-long experience in the health and wellness field to PLT, having held senior positions in business development. Prior to joining PLT, Steve Meredith was vice president of sales and marketing at Kerry Foods/Biothera. Robert Holly was vice president of marketing and sales for natural ingredients company BGG North America.
