This innovative Vermont-based brand is thinking beyond syrup, and doing good for its community all the while.

May 4, 2017

The Ethan Allen factory in Island Pond, Vermont, was shut down in the 1970s. It sat there empty for years until The Maple Guild decided to reinvigorate the maple syrup category while also infusing its community with new jobs. Thinking beyond syrup, the company has extended its product line to include flavored syrups, maple cream, maple vinegar, maple tea, maple water and more, therefore extending the very fleeting season of maple sap harvest and production and creating year-round jobs. The Maple Guild won the New Hope NEXTY Award in the Best New Condiment category in both 2016 (for maple cream at Natural Products Expo East) and 2017 (for maple vinegar at Natural Products Expo West).
