Sustainability has become more mainstream in the last two decades and Purchasing’s contribution to this growing trend has typically centered on Responsible Sourcing. This is certainly a hugely critical task but Purchasing can do significantly more. In order to do so it must first expand its organizational capabilities beyond the traditional focus on just cost-management activities to include a new area - Innovation and new products. This expansion will enable Purchasing to become a more effective contributor to top line growth and a significantly more valuable part of the sustainable revolution. This presentation shows how Purchasing can put this paradigm shift into effect and outlines the roadmap that helps it get there.
