NEXT Trends 2020 series: In an effort to help support retailers and brands, we will be publishing regular brand features for the next few weeks. Brands are selected from those that registered to exhibit at Natural Products Expo West 2020 and were curated as great examples of one of 50 trends New Hope Network is monitoring in the marketplace.

These trends are part of New Hope Network's NEXT Expo Guidebook and trend hierarchy.

Today, we look at five companies that are innovating in the "Inflammation" trend within the Modern Conditions macro force. With too much of today’s lifestyle ushering in unwanted bacteria and viruses, the body is in a constant state of inflammation to fight back invaders. Constant inflammation leads to chronic diseases, and brands are formulating products to reduce and prevent inflammation.

Blume, Incrediwear, HFactor

1. Blume

What is it? This superfood ready-to-drink tea line is made with Ceylon cinnamon, a strong antioxidant.

Innovation: Blume uses cinnamon in all of its beverages, which contains cinnamaldehyde, manganese, calcium, iron, vitamin K, zinc and omega-3 fatty acids. It also has 100 times more antioxidants than green tea alone, helping lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

2. Incrediwear

What is it? Incrediwear makes therapeutic clothing like braces, wrist sleeves and support socks.

Innovation: Incrediwear products increase circulation to reduce inflammation and swelling, relieve pain, restore mobility and accelerate recovery. Unlike compression products, Incrediwear  technology incorporates semiconductor elements within its fabric that releases negative ions when stimulated by body heat. The negative ions activate cellular vibrations that increase blood flow and speed. Increasing circulation helps bring more oxygen and nutrients to the target area, which optimizes the body’s natural healing process and accelerates post-operative recovery.

3. HFactor

What is it? Single-serve pouches of water and hydrogen.

Innovation: HFactor contains only two ingredients: pure water and pure hydrogen. Hydrogen-infused water may provide therapeutic benefits for fitness, health and lifestyle recovery and wellness.

Turveda, Barlean's

4. Turveda

What is it? Turveda sells turmeric tonics and supplements like collagen peptides with turmeric.

Innovation: Turveda's products combine turmeric and its bioactive component, curcumin, with Ayurvedic-inspired blends. Activated curcuminoids are paired with black pepper to promote cardio health, healthy joints and brain health.

5. Barlean’s

What is it? Barlean’s sells products rich in omega-3s, CBD and flax.

Innovation: Barlean’s founder, Dave Barlean, invented a new type of press that treated flaxseed more gently than other producers and pressed it without heat, yielding a better-tasting product.
