With the snack category popping because Americans are eating several mini “meals” a day on the run, we expected the savory snack nominees to wow us. All of the products represented better-for-you savory or salty options. But inspiration fell somewhat flat. We’d love to see more organic offerings and products that can make a difference by innovating with food waste, new proteins, transparency, traceability or cleaner packaging. The natural snack aisle deserves to stand out, not replicate conventional with a healthier-for-you dusting.
