Take action to oppose new GMO legislation

On April 9, Congressman Mike Pompeo introduced the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2014. This bill is fatally flawed and denies consumers a right to know about GE foods. In fact, rather than mandating GMO labeling, the bill mandates a system of voluntarily labeling of genetically engineered foods. Polls show that 93 percent of American consumers—including the eight out of 10 American families who buy organic products—want to know what is in their food and support mandatory GMO labeling.

We urge you to tell your representative to reject the Pompeo legislation. Please contact Marni Karlin, OTA's director of legal and legislative affairs, with any questions at [email protected].
