Biova announces kosher, halal certification

Biova LLC, the global leader for water soluble egg membrane ingredients announced that it has received both kosher certification and halal certification for its entire line of branded ingredients, as well as its production facilities.

“We strive to be more than just an ingredient supplier for our customers,” said Matt Stegenga, Biova’s director of sales and marketing. “Ensuring that all of Biova’s branded ingredients and production facilities comply with the Orthodox Union’s rigorous kosher foods guidelines and the strict halal requirements of The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA) helps our customers expand markets and better satisfy consumer needs.”

Biova’s branded ingredients are marketed and distributed worldwide. Headquartered in Chicago, IFANCA certifies halal food products in more than 50 countries around the globe. The Kosher Division of Orthodox Union is the world's largest kosher certification agency. The OU kosher symbol appears on more than 500,000 products produced in 83 different countries.

“Consumers, in countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, see the Halal logo as a mark of quality,” says Alex Grantz, business development manager for Connell Brothers. “We believe Biova's ingredients offer our customers and consumers many unique benefits. Halal certification furthers the tremendous market opportunities we see developing for BiovaFlex®, BiovaDerm® and BiovaPlex®.”
