The Center for Food Safety
and Applied Nutrition issued a warning letter to Star Scientific Inc. for marketing Anatabloc on the firm’s websites anatabloc.com and starscientific.com. Anatabloc contains anatabine, which has been authorized as an Investigational New Drug which was made public and is considered by FDA to be a new dietary ingredient without notification. It is therefore considered adulterated. Star Scientific also promotes Anatabloc with unapproved claims to treat diseases such as Alzheimer’s, ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury. The letter also cites CigRx which contains anatabine.
