Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. ® Receives GMP Registration for Dietary Supplements and Athletic Banned Substances through NSF I

LOS ANGELES, CA, July 9, 2007–Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. ® (SGTI), a contract manufacturer of premium quality soft gelatin capsules, recently completed a successful facilities audit by NSF International and has achieved Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Registration through their Dietary Supplement Certification program. In addition, SGTI was registered under NSF’s Athletic Banned Substances program, also known as GMP for Sport™.

NSF International is an independent, not-for-profit, organization that helps protect the public by certifying products and writing standards for food, water and consumer goods. In response to the growing concern about the ingredients used in dietary supplements, and the environments in which they are produced, NSF offers GMP registration services to the dietary supplement industry. As part of SGTI’s registration, NSF conducted audits at the company’s manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, CA. Soft Gel Technologies, Inc.® received registration certificates and is listed on the NSF International website, confirming that the company is in compliance with GMP’s as set forth in NSF/ANSI Standard 173, the American National Standard for Dietary Supplements.

For the past few years, SGTI has participated in the Natural Product Association’s GMP certification program, and received an “A” compliance rating after being audited by a third-party inspector. According to SGTI President, Ron Udell, successfully meeting all of the requirements included in NSF’s GMP Registration Program confirms the company’s commitment to quality. He remarked, “The two GMP registrations awarded by NSF provide our customers with the assurance that SGTI manufactures safer, higher-quality products. It is a great honor for the company to have both NSF and NPA GMP certifications.”

"With the new GMP’s now published, Soft Gel Technologies is setting an example for other sport nutrition manufacturers to follow," said David Abney, general manager, NSF's Dietary Supplements and Functional Foods Certification Program. “Not only did Soft Gel receive GMP registration to demonstrate their commitment in meeting stringent quality procedures, they also received GMP for Sport™ registration to demonstrate compliance with NSF’s athletic banned substance requirements for GMP’s.”
