Balchem Promotes Paul Richardson to Director Research and Development

NEW HAMPTON, N.Y., Jan 30, 2004 -- Balchem Corporation (Amex: BCP) announces the promotion of Paul Richardson to Director, Research and Development.

Paul Richardson brings over 10 years of experience in food research and development, encapsulation technology, patent innovations, and controlled delivery to Balchem. Prior to joining Balchem in 2001 as Principal Scientist, Richardson held positions at Unilever and National Starch.

"Richardson's strong technical background and his prior experience in various research and development areas, including bio-polymers and starch, will be utilized to develop strategic scientific direction for the Corporation, with particular focus in technology development efforts for our Encapsulation segment," stated Dino A. Rossi, President and CEO of Balchem Corporation.

Richardson holds a BSc. in chemistry from St. Aidan's College and a Ph.D. in polymer science both from the University of Durham, U.K.
