On May 4, AFNOR certified Berkem, a leader in plant extraction of polyphenols in France, according to the international standard of food safety.
Already certified ISO 9001 since 1996, Berkem has been pursuing a policy of continuous improvement of its quality management for several years and now for the safety of its ingredients from grape seed and maritime pine bark among others.
“ISO 22000 is the main international standard management practices harmonizing management practices of food safety. Its application is voluntary and may affect all the actors in the food chain. This standard, based on ISO 9001, meets the requirements of European regulations by incorporating the method of risk analysis HACCP”, explains Pierre Seguin, Quality manager.
“In a environment where consumers are increasingly aware of security issues, this certification is a guarantee of quality and reliability of the products and services that we offer to different actors of the food chain” as mentioned by Jean-Louis Peron, Head of Plant Extraction department.
He added: “This ISO 22000 certification is an asset that will strengthen our trade and open us to new markets, both nationally and internationally”.
