Edison, New Jersey, August 16th 2006 – Carotech announces that it has received Halal approval and certification for its production plant in Malaysia. It is part of the company’s on-going effort to access the food and dietary supplement markets that require the strict standards adhered to by the Islamic communities.
Besides this Halal certification, Carotech’s manufacturing plant in Malaysia is kosher-certified as well for the last 8 years.
To earn the certification, Carotech’s manufacturing facility and laboratory have to meet strict Islamic guidelines dealing with hygiene, dietary regulation, raw material processing and packaging.
Carotech is one of the few companies in the industry to have Halal certification. Halal, an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted, is the certification given by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia. The Halal symbol will now appear on all of Carotech’s product packaging.
“With more than 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, we see Halal as a form of approval that boosts our customers’ trust and confidence in our range of phytonutrients,” said WH Leong, Vice President for Carotech Inc.
