Carrington's Walt C. Jones Named Vice President, Board Member of International Aloe Science Council

IRVING, Texas, Feb 12, 2004 -- The board of directors of the International Aloe Science Council (IASC) has named Walt C. Jones of Carrington Laboratories, Inc. (Nasdaq: CARN), vice president of the board, according to Gene Hale, IASC managing director. The IASC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting and disseminating scientific information about the Aloe vera plant, its properties and benefits, and certifying aloe products and facilities around the world. It has members in 62 nations that include growers, processors, finished good manufacturers, scientists and researchers. The council serves as a liaison between its members and various scientists and research groups in providing and publishing invaluable scientific data. The Council also hosts an annual scientific conference where a $10,000 prize, the Chairman Lee Award, is given to an outstanding researcher in the field. This year the conference will be held in September in Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Jones will first serve as IASC's vice president and then is expected to assume the role of president when the current president's term would routinely end later this year, Hale said.

Jones has been involved with the nutraceutical industry since 1976, starting with Nature's Way Products in marketing and sales, then with Nutraceutical Corporation where he was vice president of field sales, distribution and database management and later became president of the specialty category. Jones then was president of PureGar, Inc., a raw materials, contract packaging provider and subsidiary of Natrol, Inc. He has extensive high tech experience serving as co-division manager of the Systems Software Division of Eyring Corporation and as vice president business development for, a division of Penton Media.

He currently is vice president of business development for Carrington, overseeing the raw material, contract manufacturing and nutraceutical consumer products business areas. He has served on the board of trustees of the American Herbal Products Association and co-founded the Corporate Alliance of Integrative Medicine, which is now called the Dietary Supplement Education Alliance. Mr. Jones holds a Masters of Business Administration in marketing from Almeda College and University.
