Dr. Barbara Levine Joins NutraCea(R) Scientific Advisory Board

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif., Dec 21, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- NutraCea(R) (NTRZ) announced today that the Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Barbara Levine, Associate Professor of Nutrition in Clinical Medicine and Director of the Nutrition Information Center at Weill College of Medicine of Cornell University as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board.

"We're honored to welcome Dr. Levine to our Scientific Advisory Board," stated Patricia McPeak, Founder and CEO of NutraCea(R). "Dr. Levine's expertise and scientific research in the field of cellular nutrition in the treatment and prevention of degenerative disease is the basis for which we believe our nutrient-rich stabilized rice bran holds so much promise as an all-natural biomedical food. We applaud Dr. Levine's foresight and eagerness to facilitate that process by joining our scientific advisory board. She has been at the forefront of the battle against malnutrition, with particular emphasis on understanding its role in obesity and other degenerative diseases," McPeak said.

"I'm delighted to take a position on NutraCea(R)'s scientific advisory board and look forward to working closely with the Company and the other members of the board in using our collective resources to advance the goals of NutraCea(R) in making the health benefits of stabilized rice bran derivatives better known to the scientific community and the general public," said Dr. Barbara Levine.

"Current research has demonstrated the importance of receiving our daily vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phyto-nutrients in the form of whole foods. Stabilized rice bran is a superior source of whole food nutrition in that it is a safe, economical and nutrient-dense source of all of these vital nutrients. The real benefit to taking vitamins in this form is that you are getting all the co-factors of each vitamin the way nature intended and they are much more bioavailable than taking isolates," Levine added.
