DSEA Expo East Fundraising Dinner Launches Drive for 2005

WASHINGTON, DC --The Dietary Supplement Education Alliance (DSEA) fundraising dinner October 16 at the Natural Products Expo East trade show launched the 2005 fundraising drive with almost $100,000 in donations.

More than 70 guests attended the event, which was a blend of industry news, networking and fun. American Health, Inc. and Stauber Performance Ingredients received DSEA Leadership Awards as co-sponsors of the dinner. Participants were briefed on results of the DSEA-funded Lewin Group study outlining the health impact of selected supplements. The landmark study triggered a Congressional hearing and served as the cornerstone of a major education campaign aimed at legislators, media and consumers. Participants viewed a video compilation featuring critical moments of testimony at the hearing and views of key media events that followed.

“Participation at the dinner was another indication of the broad acceptance of DSEA as an industry-wide coalition,” said Michael McGuffin, DSEA secretary/treasurer and president of the American Herbal Products Association. “Over 100 companies have chosen to become DSEA donors and support this effort to communicate the benefits of dietary supplements.”

The sponsorships from American Health, Inc. and Stauber Performance Ingredients ensured that 100 percent of the proceeds from the $250 per plate dinner at the Renaissance will benefit DSEA education and communications initiatives. “We’re pleased to offer an enjoyable, meaningful event to enhance the trade show experience,” said Elliott Balbert, DSEA president and CEO of Natrol. “Look for us at SupplySide East next spring!”
