DSEA GOES HOLLYWOOD: Group Stages Media Event with Mission Impossible Star, Helps Children

Hollywood, CA -- When the Dietary Supplement Education Alliance (DSEA) was formed, the goal was to generate positive media stories about dietary supplements. A year later, DSEA is doing just that, but at the same time the collaborative organization has also helped a lot of children, and is set to help more.

At an event set for June 18th, former cast member of the "Mission Impossible" television series, Peter Lupus, who is 70 years old, will attempt to lift 38 tons (76,000 lbs.) in 30 minutes. Mr. Lupus will attempt to beat his own world record -- in 1997, he lifted 75,480 lbs.

DSEA anticipates major national media coverage of the event demonstrating the good work of the dietary supplements industry.

Individuals and companies are making donations to raise funds to provide vitamins to at-risk children via The Vitamin Angel Alliance and The Healthy Foundation. Active in over 35 states and at more than 100 sites, this national initiative distributes daily multi-vitamin/mineral tablets to thousands of children at risk for nutritional deficiencies.

The first two sponsors, ProLab and the 24 Hour Fitness Magic Johnson Sports Club in Sherman Oaks, California have come on board. Additional sponsorships are available, and industry members have the opportunity to donate individually.

"We're looking for everybody in the industry to donate a dime or a quarter or a dollar for every ton Peter lifts," DSEA president Elliott Balbert said. "Also, we will award a prize to the company whose employees raise the largest amount. This is a wonderful opportunity for this industry we love, to do something very, very good."

Mr. Lupus has invited old friends from "Mission Impossible": Martin Landau, Leonard Nimoy, Peter Graves and Barbara Bain to cheer him on...along with some of his other comrades like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jack LaLanne, Regis Philbin and many others. This exciting star-studded event will take place at the new 24 Hour Fitness Magic Johnson Sports Club at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

Companies and individuals who would like to participate in this fundraiser have several options: Individuals can make a donation in the amount of their choice, or can pledge an amount per ton Peter lifts. A company can donate $5,000 and become a sponsor. There are only a few sponsorship spots available for this event, and they will go quickly. Or, a company can organize its employees to pledge a dollar amount for every ton Peter lifts.

For literally just pennies a day, a child's health and well being can be noticeably improved. Donations can be made through credit cards by calling The Vitamin Angel Alliance at (805) 565-9919 - or write a check to The Vitamin Angel Alliance and send it to them at 1450 Orange Grove Avenue, Santa Barbara, CA 93105. Please note "Mission Possible" on your donation. The Vitamin Angel Alliance will be processing all donations to the "Mission Possible" event, and then transferring half of the total funds raised to The Healthy Foundation.
