GOLDEN, Colo., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- EAS(R), a leading science-based nutritional lifestyle company, and 7-Eleven, the country's premier convenience store chain, announced today that each company is ceasing the sales of Ephedra-based products. EAS ceased production of its Ephedra dietary supplements last year, and 7-Eleven has advised all of its locations to stop selling Ephedra products.
"This is a consumer-driven decision for EAS," stated Jim Heidenreich, EAS vice president of marketing. "We believe consumers are showing a strong preference for non-Ephedra weight management products. This is good for consumers and good for EAS."
The increased media and regulatory attention, particularly for Ephedra products, is making consumers more aware that weight management goes beyond taking a pill or a tablet.
"We have always advocated healthy weight loss combining nutrition and exercise, along with the right supplements that can 'jump start' and help increase fat burning," states Heidenreich. "These changing consumer preferences will accelerate growth in EAS' core business: meal replacement bars and shakes and non-Ephedra thermogenics, which are the real future for both weight management and nutritional supplementation."
In conjunction with its exit from marketing Ephedra-based products, EAS announced the launch of its new non-Ephedra fat-burning supplement, Thermo DynamX, which the company believes is a superior weight management supplement to complement its popular Myoplex and AdvantEdge lines of nutritional bars and shakes.
EAS' new non-Ephedra supplement, Thermo DynamX, will be widely available by March.
With more than 5,300 stores throughout the United States, 7-Eleven continues to offer time-crunched consumers quick and easy solutions to meet their diet, nutritional and energy needs.
"Thanks to industry leaders like EAS," said Mark Herron, 7-Eleven, Inc. category manager, "an assortment of ephedra-free products are now offered at participating 7-Eleven stores to meet the needs of our consumers who are looking for safe and responsible ways to lose weight."
Based in Golden, Colo., EAS is recognized as the industry leader in active lifestyle nutrition products for elite athletes and active individuals.
