Recalled Pro-Bio(tm) Dietary Supplements Pose No Danger to Consumers
PUNTA GORDA, Fla., April 3, 2006 – Enzymedica, Inc., a manufacturer of indication-specific enzyme products, announced today a voluntary recall of a single batch of its Pro-Bio(tm) dietary supplement, due to the product containing less than the labeled amount of active probiotic bacteria. Although the recalled products pose no consumer safety risks, Enzymedica proactively notified all affected Pro-Bio distributors to ensure that these products will no longer be available for consumer purchase. Enzymedica is restocking distributors' inventory with two bottles for every original bottle ordered.
"We are deeply committed to the quality of our Enzymedica products and our customers' satisfaction, and while this batch of Pro-Bio poses absolutely no danger to consumers, it is not in line with our potency standards," said Tom Bohager, Enzymedica president. "We strive to maintain distributors' confidence in Enzymedica products through our ongoing, stringent quality assurance processes."
Pro-Bio is a probiotic formulation that contains a specialized blend of eight species of beneficial bacteria to support healthy intestinal microflora balance. Enzymedica guarantees five billion colony forming units (CFU) per capsule.
