Healthy Foods Conference debuts
A new daylong event for food developers is being held this year in conjunction with Natural Products Expo East. Held on Thursday, Oct. 14, at the neighbouring Renaissance Hotel, the Healthy Foods Conference will feature an in-depth look at the latest lifestyle trends driving innovation in the food and beverage industry.
Attendees will have the chance to learn about the companies and brands that have achieved market success by responding to these hot product trends, as well as see the latest market data tracking these trends. The intensive day-long programming also provides opportunities for suppliers, manufacturers and marketers to meet and develop new contacts.
Kevin Scott, senior vice president and general manager of the Natural and Organic Division at Kraft Foods Global, will deliver the keynote address at the conference. His talk will provide an overview of Kraft's health and wellness activities, and explore the company's recent acquisition and expansion of its Back to Nature brand into new categories.
The event is organized by New Hope Natural Media and co-sponsored by Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals and Stagnito?s New Products Magazine.

Expo turns eye to Eastern Europe
Special educational sessions designed for finished goods manufacturers in the emerging markets of Eastern Europe as well as a special series for independent retailers are among the many events slated for Natural Products Expo East at the Washington Convention Center on Oct. 14-17. The educational programme will also include a panel of leading experts who will explore the state of the industry for manufacturers, including the latest challenges in regulation, liability and product branding.
The show room floor, with more than 1,100 exhibitors, will open at 10 a.m. on Oct. 15 and run until 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
