FLAVOR-LOCKED & PROTEIN-LOADED: GARDENBURGER INTRODUCES THREE NEW PRODUCTS Country Fried Chik’n, Sweet & Sour Pork and Buffalo Chik’n Wings are Set to Send Taste Buds Globetrotting

Portland, Ore. (September 2, 2003)-- This fall, Gardenburger Authentic Foods Company will send your taste buds trekking from the Far East to the Deep South with three new saucy and satisfying products you don’t have to be a vegetarian to love. Country Fried Chik’n with Creamy Pepper Gravy, Meatless Sweet & Sour Pork and Buffalo Chik’n Wings will start hitting grocery and natural food store shelves in October. Each delicious serving contains less than 200 calories, more than eight grams of soy protein and little to no cholesterol.

Country Fried Chik’n with Creamy Pepper Gravy

This is the kind of “stick-to-your-ribs” dish that usually needs a well-seasoned cast iron skillet to properly prepare. Inspired by classic recipes for chicken-fried steak, Gardenburger uses protein-rich soy patties, breaded and dished up with an ample serving of pepper-flecked, pan-style gravy on the side. Each 10 ounce box contains two servings with a suggested retail of $3.50.

Meatless Sweet & Sour Pork

Like yin is to yang, sweet and sour flavors are wonderfully juxtaposed in the recreation of this traditional Cantonese dish in which protein-rich soy slices are simmered with bell peppers, onions and pineapple. Great on its own, over rice or even from a little white carton with chopsticks, a 10 ounce box contains two servings with a suggested retail of $3.50.

Buffalo Chik’n Wings

Hot. Tangy. Addictive. No light snackers allowed; this legendary party food is ample enough to make a meal out of. Lightly breaded wings have a real chicken taste and, like the tavern variety, are dripping in real hot sauce. You can’t stop eating them, and since they are cholesterol free, you don’t have to. A 10 ounce box contains three servings with a suggested retail of $3.50.
