industry events in Asia as event receives

Natural Products Expo Asia, the region's largest and most important trade event for the natural products industry, has announced the launch of its Global Supply Marketplace Pavilion at the tradeshow.
The second annual Natural Products Expo Asia (www.naturalproductsasia.com) returns to the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from June 18-20, 2003. The show has received U.S. Department of Commerce trade fair certification for the second year running.
Sponsored by New Hope's Functional Food and Nutraceuticals magazine, the Supply pavilion will focus on raw materials, ingredients and technologies on the supply-side of the nutrition and health industry and will provide manufacturers with the information, technology, and raw material sourcing opportunities they need to create successful new product strategies.
"The Global Supply Marketplace pavilion has been designed to drive product innovation, from concept to reality, by bringing together ingredient buyers with sellers of the highest quality, science-based ingredients available anywhere," said Scott Griggs, Expo Asia's Managing Director.
"The pavilion encourages the development of product applications by creating a venue that fosters networking and cooperation between buyers and sellers of ingredients and technologies. There is nowhere in the world right now that needs this event more than the Asian region and Expo Asia is the perfect platform," said Griggs. "Brand marketers, suppliers and contact manufacturers can bring along their formulators, product managers and R&D teams to explore new health ingredients, nutraceutical products, extraction techniques, packaging and a whole host of upstream services for this vast and growing sector," he added.
Director of Attendee Marketing, Andrea Lee said that the supply pavilion will deliver three important and powerful audience segments of the ingredient buying market to the show, namely: mainstream brand marketers, product formulators, core natural products brand marketers and direct brand marketers. "The addition to the Supply pavilion means we are creating a complete end-to-end supply chain event which is so crucial to the development of the market here in Asia," said Lee.
In 2002, the trade show and conference event attracted 200 companies from 23 countries and 4,000 buyers from 51 countries around the world. The U.S. Department of Commerce coordinated a pavilion of seventeen U.S. companies and reported that the event generated 1,300 trade leads for its client companies, and close to 100 distributorship agreements in Asia.
"We are pleased to once again be partnering with the U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC) on what has become the leading natural products event for suppliers and retailers in Asia," said Griggs. "The U.S. is a particularly strong player in the nutraceutical and dietary supplements markets and many companies are seeing the potential to grow their business in Asia. It's hardly surprising that the number of U.S. companies in the show is growing significantly," he added.
Five Product Pavilions will be featured at the 2003 Natural Products Expo event in Hong Kong: Supplements, Personal Care products, Herbal, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Alternative Remedies, Natural Foodstuffs, and the Global Supply Marketplace.
