GNC Promotes Joseph Fortunato to Senior Executive Vice President and COO

PITTSBURGH, June 22, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- GNC Corporation (GNC) today announced the promotion of Joseph Fortunato to the position of Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, reporting directly to Bruce E. Barkus, President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Fortunato, a 15-year veteran of GNC, most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of GNC.

"Throughout his career at GNC, Joe has demonstrated his ability to make valuable contributions across many areas of the business," said Mr. Barkus. "His leadership strengths, combined with his broad GNC experience and depth of industry knowledge, will be instrumental in furthering his successful track record in his new position."

Mr. Fortunato has held numerous positions within the company including Executive Vice President of Store Operations and Development; Senior Vice President of Store Development; and Vice President of Financial Operations.

Prior to joining GNC, Mr. Fortunato was President of Fortunato & Associates Financial Consulting Group. Earlier in his career he served as Controller for Motor Coils Manufacturing Company, a leading manufacturer of traction motors for locomotives and oil drilling rigs.
