LOS ANGELES, Nov 29, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Herbalife Ltd. (HLF) announced the appointment of Hugh Rees as vice president of finance for the company's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Rees will report to Wynne Roberts, senior vice president and managing director of the region. He joins the company from US-based medical supplies specialists Hollister Inc. where he held the position of finance director, EMEA.
He brings with him extensive experience in all aspects of financial management, delivering growth strategy programs in international businesses ranging in size from start ups to global companies with sales of GBP 1.5bn. During his career he has held a number of positions in household name companies around the world, including Canada, France, Australia and Germany, leading multi-functional teams in an international context.

Prior to Hollister Inc, Rees was chief financial officer for UK and Ireland at Aventis Pharma, a subsidiary of global pharmaceutical group Aventis, which subsequently became part of Sanofi-Aventis, leading the restructuring of the business following a merger and acquisitions period while continuing to drive double digit growth and profitability.

Rees started his finance career with the British Steel Corporation. Following a number of training positions in accounting and audit, he moved to French-owned healthcare and agrochemical specialists Roussel UCLAF, where his positions included five years as finance director for Australia and New Zealand and six years as UK financial controller. In 1994 he transferred to plant bio technology company AgrEvo, initially as divisional finance director, eventually heading up the corporate strategy and mergers and acquisitions functions in Berlin. He then took over as finance director for the start up pharmaceutical company China Pharmaceuticals Ltd, before joining Aventis in 2000. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Rees takes over from Jon Mead who is retiring from the position following an 11 year career with Herbalife. He will be based in the company's EMEA headquarters in Uxbridge, West London.
