Lacey, WA – Oct. 13, 2005 – Aloecorp, the world’s leading vertically integrated supplier of bioactive Aloe vera raw materials, has announced that two Aloe Industry leaders received high honors at a banquet dinner held on Saturday, September 10, when they were each given the prestigious International Aloe Science Council (IASC) Hall of Fame Award during the IASC’s 24th Annual Scientific Seminar that took place on South Padre Island, Texas September 10-11.
The IASC Hall of Fame Award was bestowed upon Akira Yagi, Ph.D., Research Director at the Placenta - Aloe Research Institute Japan Bioproducts Industry Co., Ltd., for his many achievements in validating the scientific merits of Aloe vera. Dr. Yagi has been instrumental in identifying and investigating the important glycoprotein found in Aloe vera, which has been identified as an important marker for its efficacy. According to Mick Anderson, Aloecorp’s Vice President of Business Development and the newly inducted IASC Chairman of the Board, “Dr. Yagi has devoted much of his life’s work to significant Aloe research, and has been influential in helping represent the International Aloe Science Council throughout the world with his unprecedented dedication and education on the medicinal value of Aloe. He has greatly assisted the IASC and the Aloe Industry in propelling this exceptional ingredient to the forefront of science—and use in finished goods products.”
The IASC Hall of Fame Award was also presented to Gene Hale, Managing Director of the International Aloe Science Council, for his untiring 34 years of service to the Aloe Industry, including the past 12 years while heading up the IASC. “Gene has brought an amazing amount of honesty, integrity and credibility to the IASC, of which any organization would be proud,” said Anderson. “His fairness, attention to detail and belief in the value of Aloe vera make him a perfect fit for his role in this respected worldwide organization. His transparent efforts on behalf of the Aloe Industry have attracted quality member companies and individuals who, like Gene, remain dedicated to marketing this centuries-old healing botanical.”
During the conference Bill Pine, Vice President of Sales at Impove USA, stepped down from his two-year term as IASC Chairman of the Board, and was replaced in this position by Aloecorp’s Mick Anderson. Anderson indicated that attendance at this year’s conference had the largest international representation, which included many of Aloecorp’s Distributor Representatives from around the world who have recognized the value of the IASC and have become members. In addition to participating in the IASC scientific seminar on September 9-10, they joined Aloecorp for team-building activities on September 11th and the September 12th grand opening celebration of Aloecorp’s new cutting-edge Texas manufacturing facility and historic Hilltop Gardens beautification and landscaping project.
This was capped off with Aloecorp’s September 13 Worldwide Representative Workshop, where the group visited the company’s Aloecorp de Mexico facilities and learned about the company’s Qmatrix™ Proprietary Processing technology—a revolutionary process that will forever change the way in which Aloe is processed and utilized in new product manufacturing.
The next two scientific seminars will take place in Dallas, Texas, with the 2006 seminar being held September 8-9. The IASC is requesting that papers be submitted for next year’s conference on significant research carried out on Aloe. A winner will be chosen to receive the prestigious Yun-Ho Lee Award of Scientific Merit and will be awarded $10,000. Papers should be submitted to the IASC (www.IASC.org) by July 26, 2006. Further details will be forthcoming in the IASC Inside Aloe newsletter.
