Innovation Showcased at SupplyExpo 2008

$6.9 billion raw material ingredient industry shows no sign of slowing

ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 18, 2008)—SupplyExpo ( ), the leading trade show for ingredients, technology and innovation for the healthy, natural and organic products industry continues to break attendance records. Together, SupplyExpo and Natural Products Expo West, the country’s largest natural and organic products trade show for finished goods, posted an 11% growth with more than 52,000 attendees March 13-16 in California’s Anaheim Convention Center. SupplyExpo, produced by New Hope Natural Media, a division of Penton Media, featured leading ingredient companies targeting supplement, food, beverage and cosmeceutical applications.

The ingredient supply chain for healthy, natural and organic products is big business. According to Nutrition Business Journal®, the 2006 raw material ingredient supply chain generated $6.9 billion in sales, accounting for $85 billion in consumer finished product sales.

“We consider New Hope Natural Media an essential partner in our launch efforts for Vcaps® Plus vegetarian capsules,” said Brad Larson, Manager, Marketing and Business Development, CAPSUGEL, Americas Region. “As we readied our product for introduction into North and South America, there was simply no question that SupplyExpo would be the exhibition platform.”

Now in its sixth year, SupplyExpo featured hundreds of exhibits offering cutting-edge functional ingredients, technologies and science. In addition to the trade show floor, SupplyExpo provided numerous educational seminars addressing key business issues including global ingredient sourcing, compliance and sustainable packaging and new market trends.

“Year-over-year growth is demonstrative of the industry and the direction it is moving,” said Fred Linder, president of New Hope Natural Media. “The value proposition of SupplyExpo begins with ideation and discovery from academic science, and flows through to supplier selection for innovative finished goods. It is exciting to see all our exhibiting companies presenting science, introducing products, presenting novel technologies and applications, driving innovation, and tapping emerging trends. We’re ecstatic that companies see this event as an imperative for their product launch cycle”

SupplyExpo is also co-located with the Nutracon Conference. At Nutracon, delegates debated key issues in the development of healthy foods and beverages, supplements and personal care products noting emerging themes beginning with academic research and presenting the latest in trends leading the ingredient marketplace worldwide. This year’s conference saw the coveted NutrAward presented to Maypro Industries for their product Oligonol™, a patented, all-natural super antioxidant ingredient.
