Offers Improved Bioavailability
Los Angeles, CA, September 26, 2007 – Los Angeles-based Jarrow Formulas has unveiled QH-absorb™ in 30 mg softgels, the latest offering of Jarrow Formulas’ CoQ10 supplements utilizing the reduced form of Co-Q10 called ubiquinol. QH-absorb offers improved bioavailability over standard Co-Q10 supplements (ubiquinone), and are able to deliver Co-Q10 in its native antioxidant-capable form. While standard Co-Q10 (ubiquinone) supplements can be activated in the body, this activation can be less efficient in some individuals, based on age or genetics. Ubiquinol also has superior bioavailability to ubiquinone as demonstrated in clinical trials.
QH-absorb, like Q-absorb, uses an all-natural liposome-based delivery system to improve absorption, and contains no detergents or surfactants. This delivery system has been validated in multiple trials to significantly improve Co-Q10 absorption over powdered Co-Q10 dosage forms. Jarrow Formulas’ ubiquinol is derived from Co-Q10 that is manufactured via a yeast-fermentation process and consists only of the natural trans configuration, the same as is biosynthesized by humans.
“One of the most exciting consequences of the development of a stabilized dosage form of ubiquinol is its innate ability to be absorbed more efficiently than ubiquinone,” says Kevin Connolly, Ph.D, Director of Scientific Affairs and Product Development at Jarrow Formulas. “There is experimental evidence that all forms of CoQ10 are reduced (to ubiquinol) in intestinal enterocytes prior to release into the lymphatic system. This coupled absorption/reduction may be a rate limiting step in CoQ10 assimilation and may explain why ubiquinol-based CoQ10 supplements exhibit enhanced bioavailability over ubiquinone supplements. Preliminary testing in humans indicates at least double the absorption of ubiquinol over ubiquinone.”
Jarrow Formulas’ ubiquinol is supplied by Kaneka Corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of CoQ10. The Kaneka production process yields Co-Q10 of the highest purity and potency available.
Jarrow Formulas is a direct contributor to research on CoQ10. It has funded several clinical trials on the nutrient, as well as acts as a sponsor for the international society that promotes research and education regarding coenzyme Q10.
The suggested retail price (SRP) for Jarrow Formulas’’ QH-absorb ™ is $21.95 per bottle of 60 softgels (30 mg).
