“CarbAware Expo & Conference” Opens Sept. 16 in Arlington, VA
LowCarb Living magazine is partnering with the Carbohydrate Awareness Council to present the first Exhibition and Conference dedicated to the millions of Americans who are embracing the low-carb lifestyle. Consumers can join industry and healthcare professionals in seminars led by experts in the movement, and sample dozens of the newest low-carb products.
The CarbAware Expo & Conference will take place September 16-19, 2004, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City outside of Washington, D.C. in Arlington, VA. According to Dr. Gil Wilshire, MD, FACOG, President of the Carbohydrate Awareness Council, , the four-day Conference will offer lecture sessions that will be of tremendous value to all comers. The sessions will be led by nationally-known industry experts, scientists, and authors. Information will be presented in three parallel tracks to consumers, industry professionals and healthcare professionals. In addition, there will be a concomitant two-day consumer Expo where consumers can meet product and service providers directly.
The general sessions will be packed with information about low-carb diets and controlled-carb nutrition. The business-oriented sessions will be geared to industry professionals. These talks will be accessible to all attendees. The CME-accredited scientific sessions will offer healthcare professionals the opportunity to earn more than a dozen hours of continuing medical education credit while learning about the latest evidenced-based scientific data.
On Friday and Saturday, September 17 and 18, all of the products, services, and related lifestyle choices for low-carb lifestyle consumers will be showcased at the Expo. Dozens of exhibitors will offer sampling and sales of the latest low-carb products and services as well as displays of a wide range of consumer choices for exercise, fitness, health and well-being.
“The low-carb movement has accelerated at a pace unparalleled in the history of American food industry,” said Dr. Wilshire. “At the present time, an estimated 35 million Americans are following a low-carb regimen, and 70 million more are controlling their carbohydrate intake. The CarbAware Expo & Conference will give carb-conscious consumers and healthcare professionals alike a rare opportunity to see, taste, and try numerous products all in one place while learning more about every aspect of this lifestyle choice from the Nation’s most knowledgeable and respected low-carb experts.”
Among the more than three dozen session presenters are LowCarb Living magazine Editorial Advisory Board Members Fred Pescatore, M.D., author of The Hamptons’ Diet and former associate medical director of the Atkins Center; and Jonny Bowden, M.A., CNS, nationally known weight loss coach and expert on low-carb dieting, author of “Living the Low-Carb Life: Choosing the Diet That’s Right for You from Atkins to Zone;” as well as Andrea Mondello, founder and Web Master of www.lowcarbeating.com and LowCarb Living magazine Web master.
“The success of LowCarb Living magazine has shown us the enormous power of consumer demand for new low-carb products and services,” said Jim Capparell, president of CappMedia, Inc. and publisher of LowCarb Living. “Low-carb is more than a diet, it’s a lifestyle. Americans are recognizing that obesity, arguably the number one health problem in our culture, is entirely avoidable. People are taking charge of their own health and their own future. They are strongly motivated to change and eager for information, inspiration and support.”
