NattoPharma, the worldwide pioneer behind MenaQ7® and documentation of health effects of vitamin K-2, has announced it will expand its product portfolio with new products derived from biotechnology, fermentation and green technology.
While the main focus for NattoPharma until now has been on traditional natural vitamin K2 with extended research and development, the ingredient innovator will now include new natural crystallized MenaQ7 products in its product portfolio.
“The most significant technological breakthrough in the new generation of MenaQ7 is a proprietary multi-step process of purification, condensation and crystallization of fermentation-derived K2. This process leads to an end product that has more than 95 percent pure natural menaquinone-7, a much more desirable outcome for the safety and efficacy of the end product,” explains Dr. Vladimir Badmaev, head of research and development of NattoPharma.
The new pure MenaQ7 crystals can be used directly in food, food supplements, premixes and multivitamins without the customary excipients—resulting in much desired space and weight savings in finished vitamin K2–containing products. In other words, it is more economical, manufacturing-wise and financially because you use less to obtain desired amounts. Additionally, MenaQ7 crystals are 100 percent defined for its composition and impurities, plus MenaQ7 crystals can be reconstituted in oil, e.g., medium-chain triglycerides of safflower oil, sunflower oil and coconut oil or mixed with appropriate carriers for obtaining a triturated powder form.
