NOW Foods Wins NBJ Two Awards: Efforts on Behalf of Industry and Educational Initiatives

Laguna Beach, CA (July 26, 2007) -- NOW Foods’ received two awards at the Newport Summit last week in Laguna Beach, CA. NOW president Al Powers accepted the awards.

The first award was for unflagging efforts on behalf of industry from its early days 40 years ago when NOW founder El Richard and his brother Lou Richard worked hard to launch the NNFA Standards Committee to today's leadership and financial support of a number of industry and consumer organizations. NOW sponsors organizations such as ABC, DSEA, Citizens for Health and the Socially Responsible Business Awards. Their staff serves on the boards of AHPA, MAHO and Natural Products Assn. China. The company expends tremendous effort to set the record straight on negative media reports about clinical studies. It founded and funds the Natural Health Research Institute, an independent, pro-active center that aggregates, generates and communicates quality research and educational information.

The second award, for Educational Initiatives was in recognition of their launching NOW University, a free educational program for retailers that encourages those on the front lines of consumer contact to learn as much as they can about today's most important health concerns and dietary supplements. Upon completion of the online course, retailers are awarded a certificate. NOW U is based on the recently published book, "7-Syndrome Healing: Supplement Essentials for the Mind and Body," by Marcia Zimmerman and Jayson Kroner.
