NPA's Shaw named a top D.C. lobbyist

NPA legal counsel also recognized in U.S. News – Best Lawyers survey.

The Hill newspaper has named John Shaw, Natural Products Association executive director and CEO, as one of the “2012 Top Lobbyists” in Washington, D.C. This is the second time Shaw has been honored by The Hill; he was named as one of the top lobbyists in 2010 as well.

The Hill offers comprehensive, nonpartisan Congressional news with the largest circulation on Capitol Hill, read by opinion leaders, including Congressional offices, the White House, political pundits, association executives, lobbyists and corporate leaders. In its listing, The Hill noted that Shaw “represents natural products producers at a time when demand for their wares is growing.”

In addition, Sidley Austin LLP, which serves as NPA’s legal counsel, earned the most first-tier national rankings for the third year in a row in the U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” survey. Sidley also received the prestigious U.S. News – Best Lawyers “Law Firm of the Year” recognition in both Securities/Capital Markets Law and Commercial Litigation based on their impressive overall performance in these practice areas.

U.S. News Media Group is a leading source of rankings and journalism while Best Lawyers is a leading survey of lawyers worldwide. The U.S. News – Best Lawyers Law Firm rankings evaluated firms across the U.S. using a wide range of objective data, such as individual assessments from clients, private practice lawyers and thousands of law firm employees.

“I’m honored that NPA was recognized for our strong advocacy on behalf of the vibrant and growing natural products industry,” said Shaw. “NPA provides strong leadership in making our voice heard both in Congress and with federal regulators. I’m also pleased that Sidley Austin achieved top marks as one of the best law firms in the nation. They will continue to support NPA with important advice and counsel on the critical issues facing our industry after the election.”
