SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif.-Dec. 23, 2004 --- NHK Laboratories Inc. (www.nhklabs.com), a custom manufacturer and packager of dietary supplements and functional foods, was awarded GMP registration by NSF International, the public health and safety company(TM) (www.nsf.org). NSF International is the leading global provider of public health and safety risk management solutions.
The NSF GMP Certification program provides testing of products to verify the identity and quantities of dietary ingredients on product labels, ensures the product does not contain undeclared ingredients or unacceptable levels of contaminants, and demonstrates conformity to currently recommended GMPs for dietary supplements. The registration is given after the NSF completes a plant audit to verify true compliance with all GMP's, and the NSF will conduct a monitoring audit to ensure continued conformance with all regulations.
"This GMP registration reflects NHK Laboratories continued commitment to ensuring quality and satisfaction and gives companies confidence that their plants operate in conformance to established GMPs," said Kathleen Jordan, general manager of the Dietary Supplements and Functional Foods Program.
"We have always believed that the underlying success of NHK has been our guarantee for the quality, potency, composition, and purity of all the products manufactured at our facility," said Sharmin A. Karim, executive director at NHK Laboratories Inc. "We're not going to stop here, either. Obtaining GMP registrations and certifications is an ongoing process at NHK. We've been under the auspices of the NNFA GMP program since 2001, and now to be accredited by NSF, we feel we're prepared to make the inevitable step toward OTC status."
Since 1987 NHK Laboratories Inc., has been specializing in the production of capsules, tablets and powder drink mixes. The company operates two facilities on more than 90,000 square feet, which are both certified GMP status by the NNFA and NSF. In addition to its contract manufacturing services, the company offers contract laboratory analyses and quality bulk ingredients to the food and nutrition industries.
