New chief takes helm at Kemin Health
Kemin Health has promoted Jeff Flora to president. Flora joined Kemin in 2004 as the vice president of finance. Previously, Flora served as a corporate controller for Tone Brothers in Iowa. Flora began his career with the General Electric Company (GE) through its financial management programme. Upon completion, he joined GE's corporate audit staff where he worked on a series of global assignments involving operational and financial audits at a number of GE businesses. Flora holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Iowa.

New account manager for Rockies region
PL Thomas has hired Trent Armitstead as senior account manager focusing on dietary supplements in the Rocky Mountain region, Texas and several adjacent states. Armitstead has been in the dietary-supplements industry for nearly 20 years, with stints at Alpine Health Industries, Sabinsa, Stauber Performance Ingredients, and, most recently, at AM Todd Botanical Therapies, where he was an account executive. Armitstead earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University, as well as certificates in statistical process controls from Utah Valley State College.

Biothera hires sales VP for Pacific Rim
Biothera has hired Darryl Mircheff as vice president of sales and marketing for its health-care ingredient business.He will focus on developing the company's rapidly growing business in the Pacific Rim. Previously, Mircheff was a vice president of international sales for Interhealth Nutraceuticals. Before that, he was executive sales director for TSI Health Sciences, with responsibility for North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim.

Green marketer wins teaching award
Twenty-year natural-products industry veteran and marketing professor Darrin C. Duber-Smith has received the third annual Wall Street Journal Distinguished Professor 2009 award. Duber-Smith, president of Green Marketing, and marketing professor at Metropolitan State College in Denver, was chosen among nine other professors out of 1,000 candidates nominated nationally to receive the honour for integrating practical business tools and experiences into the classroom. Duber-Smith held marketing management positions with ZAND Herbal Formulas, Nature's Apothecary, and Natural Business Communications (the founders of the LOHAS market segmentation) prior to forming Green Marketing in 2000.

New sales director at OmniActive
Rick Kaiser has joined OmniActive Health Technologies as director of sales. In his new position with OmniActive, Kaiser will be responsible for securing new accounts, managing sales activities including lead generation and trade-show activity, and marketing the company's eye-health and weight-management ingredients. Kaiser has held numerous sales and marketing positions at leading companies including Advana Science, Bioriginal Food & Science Corp, Nutrition 21 and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
