Proliant Inc. Introduces Iso-Chill™ Whey Protein Isolates

AMES, Iowa (May 1, 2003) – Proliant Inc. introduces Iso-Chill™ Whey Protein Isolates!

Iso-Chill 9000 Whey Protein Isolate and Iso-Chill 9010 Instantized Whey Protein Isolate are processed by a proprietary, “chilling” or low temperature, novel process that provides a full balance of undenatured bioactive proteins for nutritional advantages, along with functional benefits.

Iso-Chill whey protein isolates are manufactured by a “chilling” or low temperature microfiltration process and dried by indirect heat. The low temperature microfiltration process allows the Iso-Chill whey protein isolates to provide undenatured protein with a full balance of bioactive whey protein fractions, including immunoglobulin (IgG), lactoferrin (Lf) and glycomacropeptides (GMP). Other whey processing technologies that utilize higher temperatures cause irreversible unfolding of the protein fractions that can drastically reduce the biological activity of the protein. Based on solubility at pH of 4.6, Iso-Chill has 0-3% denatured proteins, which is approximately 10% less than ion-exchange whey protein isolates and typically less than other microfiltration whey protein isolates. Iso-Chill whey protein isolates also contain up to 12 times more native GMP than ion-exchange whey protein isolates.

As well as nutritional advantages, Iso-Chill whey protein isolates have functional benefits: clean bland flavor, white-color, high solubility, high clarity, and excellent acid and heat stable properties. Over a pH range of 3.0 to 8.0, Iso-Chill is highly soluble for both acidic and neutral beverages. The clarity at neutral pH and after acidifying with either citric or phosphoric acid to pH levels of 3.0-3.5 and heated to 85°C for 20 minutes are comparable to the ion-exchange whey protein isolates.

Because of the functional benefits, Iso-Chill whey protein isolates, are ideal for acidic, heat-treated, high protein, clear RTD beverages, nutritional neutral beverages, drinkable yogurts, and instant dry-mix beverages. It is also applicable for high protein nutritional and sports bars. In combination with other Proliant whey proteins, a good-tasting, smooth-textured, nutritional bar with an extended shelf-life can be developed.
