Science and innovation lead at Vitafoods 2006

The 9th annual Vitafoods International trade show takes place at Geneva's PalExpo this month. According to the organizers, the event has grown by 17 per cent this year with more than 300 leading suppliers exhibiting including big names such as DSM, Firmenich, Ocean Spray, Cognis, Cardinal Health, Lipid Nutrition, Swiss Caps and Aloecorp. More than 5,000 attendees are expected to visit from more than 40 countries.

A dedicated New Products Zone, sponsored by Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals, will showcase developments in the industry, while a Seminar Theatre programme will allow visitors to hear exhibiting companies talk about their products and latest research findings.

Vitafoods International Conference
Organized by Leatherhead Food International, the conference will feature eminent speakers reviewing the latest scientific and technical developments in the functional foods and nutraceuticals arena.
Highlights include:
Heart health: Professor Robert Pickard of the British Nutrition Foundation. Pomegranate juice: Dr Richard Bogle, a cardiologist at London's Hammersmith Hospital. Obesity and GI: Professor Gary Frost, University of Surrey. Green tea catechins: Dr Frank Thielecke, DSM Nutritional Products, Switzerland. Beauty foods: Dr Sybille Buchwald-Werner, Cognis, Germany. Nutrigenomics: Dr Ben van Ommen, TNO Quality of Life, and director of the European Nutrigenomics Organization, the Netherlands. Professor John Hesketh, University of Newcastle.
