McLennan is the founder of the Living Building Challenge, an international green building program, co-creator of Pharos, the most advanced building materials rating system in North America, and founder of Ecotone Publishing, the only dedicated green building publisher in North America. As a former Principal at BNIM Architects, one of the founders of the green design movement in the United States, he also worked on many of the leading high performance projects in the country.
Mr. McLennan's work in the sustainable design field has been published or reviewed in dozens of journals, magazines, conferences, proceedings and books, and he is the author of 4 books on green building including the Philosophy of Sustainable Design which has been used as a textbook in dozens of universities and colleges around the country.
