SneezEze News: New Hay Fever Study Published as Pollen Counts Soar

Green Bay, WI (May 1, 2006) -- Just in time for what experts are saying will be a record season for pollen counts, a new study has been published on SneezEze, a nasal powder, shown to reduce the need for allergy and hay fever sufferers to utilize rescue medicines such as antihistamines, with no side effects.

Because of a wet, mild winter, and early spring and unusually warm days, some parts of the country have already reached pollen levels nearly as high as for all of last years’ season. Recommendations to cope usually include avoiding the outdoors, especially in the morning, using air conditioning, antihistamines, and in extreme cases, nasal steroids.

The principal aim of this latest study was to find if SneezEze reduced the need for rescue medicines, which is a measure widely used in allergy research.

The original article A double blind, placebo controlled trial of inert cellulose powder for the relief of symptoms of hay fever in adults by J. C. Emberlin and R. A. Lewis was published in the January 4, 2006 issue of Current Research Medical Research and Opinion (Vol. 22, No 2 2006 275-285).

Professor Jean Emberlin, Director, National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit, Institute of Health, University of Worchester, Worchester, UK designed and conducted a double blind, placebo controlled study of 97 adult hay fever sufferers. The study was conducted during June and July so that participants were exposed to environmental allergens such as grass pollen, to which approximately 95% of hay fever sufferers are allergic.

SneezEze, unlike other allergy products, is a powder that is sprayed into the nostril. It is gentle and easier to use than traditional liquid nasal products. There is also an economic benefit as the over the counter cost of SneezEze works out to be less than 50% of the daily cost of traditional antihistamines.
