Three out of four Americans have experienced at least one stress symptom within the last month alone, according to the American Psychological Association’s Stress in America survey. Forty-five percent of respondents have had trouble sleeping, 36 percent have felt nervous or anxious, 35 percent have been irritable or angry and 34 percent have felt fatigued—all because of stress.
The bigger problem is chronic stress, which can either be painfully noticeable or simmer quietly under the surface. Either way, over time it can lead to serious long-term health issues such as heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, depression, dementia and even early death.
