Better Bean, the first brand acquired by Hain's Cultivate Ventures, wants to change how people eat beans
Beans no longer have to be bought dry or canned. This company is catching people's attention for serving them up fresh in the refrigerated section of the grocery store.
In June, Better Bean Co., the brainchild of father-daughter team Keith and Hannah Kullberg, became the first strategic acquisition for Hain Celestial's new venture arm, Cultivate Ventures. Hannah says that deal was a no-brainer because of Hain's long-standing reputation as natural and organic experts, and all of the great processes and networks it has to help her young company grow.
Better Bean makes fresh, refrigerated beans as an alternative option to dry or canned beans. "Because our mission is to change the way people eat beans, there's a lot we have to do—a lot of education, a lot of tasting, a lot of merchandising work," she says. And that's something Hain's platform might be able to help with.
The company promises something new at Natural Products Expo West in March. Until then, catch up with Hannah in this video from Natural Products Expo East 2017.
