Winged, the first CBD product line exclusively formulated for women, is not even six months old. Yet the company is already giving back to the social missions that are at the forefront of its founding principle: to lift up women in their journeys of health and empowerment.

The brand recently announced it is donating $25,000 in scholarship money to MOSTe (Motivating Our Students Through Experience), a community-based mentoring, scholarship and college-access organization based in Los Angeles. Winged will make this monetary contribution as five academic scholarships, aptly named the Winged Woman Scholarship. Receipients of the scholarships, whom will be announced in spring 2020, must be enrolled in MOSTe, and Winged encourages Los Angeles-based young women to reach out to MOSTe and apply.

As the founder of Winged, Jessica Mulligan continues to stand by her unwavering brand vision to support women in all facets of life. "A Winged woman is someone who, by lifting herself up to fly, allows us all to soar along with her. They are the women who throughout history have been courageous, who have paved the way for us, who have served as inspiration for us," says Mulligan. "They are the women who changed the world in ways we read about: those who stood up, didn't give up their seat and fought to change equal rights laws. And they are also the women we don't read about: those whose everyday acts of kindness and courage make their families, communities and everyone around them better. These are the women we celebrate at Winged, and that is why we want to help the young women of MOSTe who have displayed this kind of leadership realize their collegiate dreams."

MOSTe's Executive Director Amy Ludwig says, "We are excited that Winged has chosen us as their scholarship partner. It's such a great fit, as we both work to help women discover their boundless capabilities. With Winged's generous assistance, we'll be able to provide our graduating seniors with crucial funding to support their success at college."

Mulligan's founding vision is rooted in her knowledge and experience of the many challenges that women have faced and continue to face in life and business. "I think a challenge I see for young women today is overcoming the fact that it still isn't considered 'normal' for women to be in power. I want to break that belief so that when young women are at the table they aren't afraid to use their voices. We are certainly outnumbered when it comes to those seats at the table and grossly underrepresented in STEM studies, the natural and organic products industry, and many other places. I think we are still fighting for everyday equality. Understanding the implications of that is something we are trying to educate young women and, even importantly, young men, about as a society."

Winged anticipates this will be an annual award that it backs, and it also will be announcing support of two other pillars of social giving in 2020. "We will be supporting both a women's mental health organization and women's opiod recovery centers," says Mulligan. "Our team is very rooted in the belief that business should be used for social change and committed to using our platform to contribute in a positive way. We are just getting started."
