Over the past couple of years, the baby food category has exploded with better-for-baby options. Despite the progression, Saskia Sorrosa felt there was still something lacking. Fruit sugars are often still prominent, masking the flavors of the vegetables so the babies aren't introduced to the savory taste of them.

Motivated by this disservice, Sorrosa set out to create a new generation of adventurous eaters with her company Fresh Bellies, which blends vegetables like bell peppers and Swiss chard with spices like garlic and thyme. In recognition for her efforts in training little one's palates before they develop aversions, we awarded Fresh Bellies the NEXTY Award for Best New Natural Kid's Product at Natural Products Expo East 2017. Here, Sorrosa shares what she believes sets Fresh Bellies apart.
