This year’s Natural Product Expo East featured a range of plant-based snack products that included nutrient-dense ingredients such as mushrooms, beans and peas. Other top ingredients spotted in plant-based snack innovations included superfoods such as quinoa, coconuts, nuts and seeds added to products in different formats to help support their balanced nutritional profiles.

Many plant-forward, nutrient-dense snacks included seeds, which are valued for theirnutty flavor and appealing texture, and are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals.

Sales of seeded crackers and crispbreads grew by 10.1% in the 52 weeks ending Sept. 4, according to SPINS. The market's value is $40.85M in conventional, natural, organic and specialty retailers.
