Zyphyr Foods, Shenendoah Valley Organic, Wild Planet

1. Zephyr Foods

What is it? Pure American Black Angus ground beef that has been born and raised on U.S. farms and humanely handled from farm to harvest.

Innovation: Fully traceable back to the cow, this ground beef is Glatt Kosher, humanely raised U.S. Black Angus beef. Zephyr Foods is one of the few kosher and humanely raised beef purveyors in the U.S.

2. Shenandoah Valley Organic

What is it? Poultry company that offers fully traceable chicken.

Innovation: Every one of it's products, under the brand Farmer Focus, includes a 4-letter farm ID that traces the chicken consumers buy back to the farmer who raised it. Chickens are humanely raised with daily access to an outside area with lots of vegetation, shade structures and all the bugs and grubs they can eat.

3. Wild Planet

What is it? Wild caught fish.

Innovation: Wild Planet sources tuna caught by trolling or pole and line so that there is less than 0.1% bycatch. Pole and troll caught tuna are considered the most sustainable way to fish. Wild Planet’s pink salmon are caught via purse seine operations while the sockeye salmon are caught via drift and set net operations. It uses single species-targeted purse seine fishing methods in order to eliminate bycatch of other species, while also benefiting the overall marine ecosystem.
