We know organics are better for the environment; now mounting research gives us reason to believe they're better for our health. Avoiding common pesticides may help prevent cancer and metabolic syndrome—and other long-term effects on your kids. A recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study published in the journal Pediatrics tested 1,139 children for urine levels of organophosphates, common pesticides often used on conventional fruits and veggies and as residential pesticides. The verdict? Children with above-average levels were about twice as likely to be diagnosed with ADHD.
